Quarter down

Where is this year going to? Today is the last day of March, three months down and 9 to go. I wish time wouldn't fly by sooooo fast!

There is a pasture south of where my parents farm was.....there were several horses but this paint always seemed as interested in me as I was her. I think she liked being my model. I took the first pix a few years ago. I still think it is my fave of her, the way the light hit her mane, beautiful morning light.

Little Chapel in the Woods

There is something about a little country church. This one is near where my sister lives in Lawrence Co. Illinois. I think it is beautiful. These pix were taken in the fall.........I would like to take pictures from every season. I would also love to take pictures inside of some of the original details.

Hometown.............

When I'm home for a visit I get out nearly every morning or evening I can to take pictures in and around Flora. I think I always knew I wouldn't stay in Flora, but I think discovering it behind my lens is my way of understanding part of where I came from.

A place called home....................

A continuation of the Homestead Project...........

It seems odd to go home for visits now and not go to the farm. The first trip home afterward, the people actually had not moved in yet. I think it was three months or so after my folks moved. My children and I took a drive and ended up there. We walked around one last time, it seemed almost like a death in a way. Not all my siblings felt the loss as much as I did..........it's not that I ever thought I would move back there to live, but it was home..............I guess I thought it would always be there.

The pictures I have taken over the years will be treasured.

Out in the country................

I adore old buildings, barns, little country chapels..........I love the nostalgia they stir up in my memories and thoughts of what life must have been like long ago. These pix I took last year at my sister and brother-in laws farm in Lawrence Co. IL. The old barn and sheds on the property just beg to be photographed. My family over the years have gotten use to me always taking pictures, but I'm not sure all of them understand how I see such beauty in ordinary things.

Farm Life............

A little over a year ago my parents sold the family farm and moved into town. Their age and health being the determining factor. My last visit home before they moved was November 2006. It was a tough trip. I seen how much my mother was looking forward to the move, a change, a chance to move to town and not be so far out in the country, and how much it pained my father.........this was the farm his father grew up on, the farm his grandfather had once farmed. I seen how much he loved her by agreeing to this move. He had been sick earlier in the year and realized it just had to be done.......but when I think of home I think of the farm, the place I grew up, running and playing.........over the years I have taken many, many pix of this place I still miss, and I decided I would share with a series of posts. A project........for me.

Wabash-Canonball Bridge

In St. Francisville, Il there is this beautiful old bridge that spans the Wabash River between Illinois and Indiana. The Canonball Bridge was once used by the railroad then converted for light traffic to cross the river. This bridge is over one hundred years old. Crossing is such a unique experience, no traffic lights........just courteous drivers. On this day in November 2006, it was late evening and we had some of the most beautiful light. This is definitely a place I want to go again.

Roses

I was playing around with photoshop recently. I like this picture, but I'm not sure which one I like the best if I were to print it for hanging. I may do a collage. Maybe even change up the colors to be more Warhol like.

Good Thursday?.....Not Really.

Ever been happy for a day to end? Well this was one of those days for me. Nothing horrible really....just a day I wish I could have stayed in bed, all day. I'm so ready for something new and different. I'm looking for a new job, I need to get back out there and make somewhat of a living to help out around here.

Anyway, here are a few pix........I took these in St. Louis, MO last November 2007. It was a fun day, and for that time of year a nice warm-ish day. Gateway Park and the Arch is a great place to visit, highly recommend it.

I love flowers.

A few weeks ago my hubby brought home some beautiful flowers. Over the past 26 years I have taken pictures of every bouquet of flowers he has given me. These had some very beautiful two tone roses. Aren't they beautiful?
